The Group

From Mogadishu, outward to the continent.

Our mandate

Why we exist.

To build for the people of East Africa the digital infrastructure they own themselves — payments, identity, commerce and services — so they never again wait for someone else to build it.

The name

What “Maysara” means

“Maysara” is an Arabic word meaning ease and prosperity — the moment hardship lifts. That is what we want for our people, and why the name was chosen.

Operating principles

How we work.

Four principles that govern the group and everyone inside it.

01

Build what does not exist

When the thing we need does not exist, we do not wait for someone else. We build it. That is usually how a new company here starts.

02

Trust before margin

A fee can be lowered later; trust once lost does not come back. That is why Dhaweeye takes no commission from drivers in its first year.

03

Somali first

Every product is written in plain everyday Somali. English is an option, never a requirement.

04

Do not claim what you have not earned

What works and what is being built are two different things, and we keep them apart — on this site, in reports and in investor conversations.

From the founder

East Africa cannot be built from a blueprint imported from somewhere else.

AO

Abdirauf Omar

Founder & Chief Executive, Maysara Group

When you look at East Africa as it is today — 300 million people, broken infrastructure, an economy missing most of its parts — you cannot understand it with tools designed for somewhere else.

For a long time the answer was: wait. Wait for the international bank, the foreign company, the plan sent from abroad. We waited. Not much came.

Maysara Group is built on a different premise: every Somali is owed modern tools, systems that can be relied on, and a digital economy not fenced in by borders. That is not something to wait for. It has to be built.

Group charter

One group. Six companies. One backbone.

Each company has its own management, its own customers and its own accounts. All six run on one technology backbone — one security model, one identity layer, one place the data lives. That is why a new company takes months to add, not years.

Leadership

Who is accountable.

The group is still small. As it grows, names will be added here — one at a time, as they join.

Abdirauf Omar

Founder & Chief Executive

Set the group’s founding thesis: build to global standards, but build for Somalis first. Leads design and engineering across the portfolio.

Partnership & investment

One group. One backbone. The door is open.

Government, bank, international institution or investor — we work with people who believe East Africa is being built now.
